Use of solar energy for drying crop results in saving of conventional fuels and also offers advantages of less pollution and reduced dependence on the unreliable supply of conventional fuels. Forced convection solar dryers usually lead to a faster drying rate for the higher air flow rates and better control of air temperature is possible to obtain a better quality of the dehydrated product. A solar assisted forced convection dryer was developed and fabricated to study the effect of air flow rate and air temperature on the energy requirement for the dehydration of aonla. It has mainly consisted of a finned type - corrugated flat plate solar air heater, solar air heater outlet trapezoid, a centrifugal blower, auxiliary heating chamber, drying chamber, plenum chamber, drying chamber outlet trapezoid, temperature control unit, and flow measuring unit. Thermal performance of the developed solar air heater was determined at different airflow rates. Developed model is useful for scientific community.

In many countries of the world, the use of solar thermal systems in the agricultural area to conserve vegetables, fruits, coffee and other crops has shown to be practical, economical and responsible approach environmentally. Solar heating systems to dry food and other crops can improve the quality of the product, while reducing wastes produce and traditional fuels - thus improving the quality of life. However the availability of good information is lacking in many of the countries where solar food processing systems are most needed. This work presents the performance of several individual, medium and large-scale food processing systems, which incorporate solar drying. A general purpose of solar crop dryer for drying of various agricultural products such as coffee, fruits, Vegetables, cereals, etc, is simulated. The simulated solar dyer consists of the solar air heater ( solar collector) which uses low emissivity glass cover, weather data, and an integrated dryer chamber attached to the collector where the products to be dried are placed.
The Principal applications of solar air dryer or heater are, for drying agriculture and industrial products and for space heating. Drying is simply the process of moisture removal from a product. Solar heated air could be used more effectively for drying of the various products under controlled conditions. In industry solar drying system is rarely used. In this book solar air dryer, in which regenerative desiccant material is used, to extract heat from product during off sun shine hours. For additional benefits dryer is made up of forced convection type. This type of active solar air dryer is tested using simple non selective type absorber plate of three geometries and with regenerative desiccant bed. Present book helps to decide geometrical constraint for absorber plates, rate of percentage moisture removal with absorber sheets and with regenerative desiccant material (during off sunshine hours) at fix flow rate. Also the purpose of this book is to study the possibility of using CaCl2 based solid desiccant for core drying during off sunshine hours using desiccant integrated solar dryer. The study at hand has been conducted in response to a request from Kongsberg Automotive (KA) to provide an innovative method and to introduce a new procedure for designing of wiring pattern of car seat heaters. the main aim of this project is to develop a new solution in design automation of wiring pattern of KA car seat heaters that can reduce product costs and manufacturing lead time, yet effective enough to increase producibility. The first step of designing the new wiring pattern is manipulated by the designer. Next, car seat heater 2D layout is imported and then, the dimensions of the elements are defined as constraints. Then VBA (Visual basic for application) codes are opened and the program is run. The result will be a wiring pattern in different 2D layouts. The algorithm written in VBA creates the pattern based on the dimensions of the elements which are used as inputs to define constrained parameters. The created macros are simple to be operated and easy to be modified giving the possibility to users with little knowledge of programming to be able to use independently.
The solar drying system utilizes solar energy to heat up the air and to dry any food substance loaded, which is beneficial in reducing wastage of agricultural product and helps in the preservation of the agricultural product. Based on the limitations of the natural Sun drying e.g. exposure to direct Sunlight, liability to pests and rodents lack of proper monitoring, and the escalated cost of the mechanical dryer, a solar is therefore developed to cater for this limitation. This book presents the design, construction, and performance of a solar dryer for food preservation with the temperature control system. In the dryer, the heated air from a separate solar collector is passed through a set of the net which is heated by solar energy, and at the same time, the temperature sensors sense the temperature which is inside the area of the heating block and sends data towards the controller. If the temperature is insufficient for drying of food, then the controller will start the heater and it will go on increasing. If the temperature goes beyond the temperature of specific food then the heater will off automatically and it will save the waste of energy and food from over-drying.
The main purpose of this User Defined Project is to study the changes in chemical properties of liquid food such as acidity, fat content, protein denaturation, TSS, pH, etc. occurring due to ohmic heating in different types of liquid food products by comparing the ohmically heated product to conventionally heated and raw products. The ohmic heating is also done at different voltages so as to compare among them their chemical properties. We reviewed the literatures and papers of previous researches done by several researchers across the globe working on this type of projects and found out that some properties of food material such as electrical conductivity, pH of food, solid content, presence of ions etc. are very important for the feasibility of ohmic heating process so we tried to determined the electrical conductivity and system performance coefficient of the product under test. We have designed a cylindrical glass (Borosilicate) heating chamber for liquid food which has the provision of detecting temperatures at 05 different locations inside it using PT100 sensors and SS316 electrodes. The chamber along with the heater setup is used to conduct the tests on different liquid food
